Camel Hair Duvets from a German Manufacturer

Camel hair is considered by sleep experts to be one of the most fascinating natural materials for duvets. Its hollow fibers are temperature-regulating, moisture-regulating, and provide warmth with surprisingly low weight. Anyone who has slept under a camel hair duvet understands why ancient nomads in the desert trusted this fiber.

BEFA Limburg has been manufacturing camel hair bedding in Germany for over 30 years. In our factory in Limburg an der Lahn, we process 100% pure camel hair — no blends, no fillers. Every duvet undergoes our in-house quality control according to DIN standards.

What makes camel hair so special?

  • Temperature Regulation: Warms in winter, dissipates excess heat in summer. Camel hair duvets are suitable for all seasons.
  • Moisture Management: Camel hair can absorb up to 40% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp. Ideal for night sweats.
  • Lightweight with High Thermal Performance: The hollow fiber structure insulates better than sheep's wool with significantly less weight.
  • Self-Cleaning: Due to the natural lanolin content, camel hair duvets absorb fewer odors and mites than conventional fillings.
  • Durable: A high-quality camel hair duvet lasts 15-20 years with proper care.

Our Camel Hair Collection

BEFA offers three camel hair duvets for every season plus a matching pillow:

  • Summer Duvet: Light filling for warm nights and bedrooms above 20°C
  • All-Season Duvet: Our bestseller for all temperatures between 16-22°C
  • Duo Winter Duvet: Two-chamber construction with maximum thermal performance for cold bedrooms
  • Camel Hair Pillow: Ergonomic support with the same temperature-regulating properties

Who is camel hair the right choice for?

Camel hair duvets are particularly suitable for:

  • People who sweat at night or suffer from temperature fluctuations
  • Allergy sufferers looking for a natural fiber alternative to down (NOMITE certified)
  • Overnight guests in cool, unheated bedrooms
  • Those who prefer a sustainable, durable duvet
  • Bed linen lovers who appreciate the natural, soft feel of natural hair

Caring for your Camel Hair Duvet

You should not wash a camel hair duvet regularly — the material largely cleans itself through airing. If necessary, dry cleaning or gentle washing on a wool program at 30°C is possible. Find out more in our guide Washing a Camel Hair Duvet.

Made in Germany since 1994

BEFA Limburg is one of the few remaining German bedding manufacturers that produce entirely domestically. Our camel hair duvets are made in our own factory in Limburg an der Lahn — with raw materials from controlled trade and full Oeko-Tex certification.
